• The zip-off line sits 42 cm above the hem so the shorts land just above the knee — measure it on a fit model, not on the flat, because rise differences move it.
• Bind both cut edges at the zip line. An unbound zip-off is the single most common reason these get returned.
• Ripstop needs a 70/10 microtex needle; a blunt needle pulls the grid and shows as puckering.
